Today, Nov. 23, the YMCA is celebrating its third Annual Turkey Burner Day. Instead of standing in lines all day at Black Friday stores and seeing nothing but the weight of your wallet drop, you can go to the Y for a free workout.
The Y will be open from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. and the child watch will be open from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Pool hours are 7 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. (caps are required).

Participants are invited to compete in a variety of events including the Bull Eye Target at 60 yards; the Standing Deer Target, a 60-yard competition for slug shotguns with both open and scoped sights.
Vineyard archery season, now in its waning days, has brought out large numbers of hunters, who in turn have harvested at least 100 deer. Archery hunting season began on Oct. 15 and continues through Saturday, Nov. 24.
The end of archery hunting season for deer will be followed by shotgun season, which runs from Nov. 26 to Dec. 8, and black powder season, which runs from Dec. 10 through the last day of the year.

To limber up for Thanksgiving, the Yoga Collective is offering a free yoga class from 9 to 10:30 a.m. on Thanksgiving Day at Island Cohousing, 11 Rock Pond Road, West Tisbury. Nothing like some down dogs and a bit of pigeon pose to make the stuffing go down easier.
The class is for all ages and all levels, so yoga time can still be family time.
At 3 a.m. on Wednesday morning, Marlene DiStefano thought she might have to change her flight home. Her son, Jesse Sylvia, was nine hours into the 2012 World Series of Poker main event in Las Vegas, and the competition was still going strong.
“We were like, this is never going to end,” said Ms. DiStefano in a phone interview.
