Almost 250 walkers and runners of all ages took to the streets of Oak Bluffs on a hot Saturday morning for the annual 28th annual Sullivan 5K walk/run. Dr. Louis W. Sullivan, the former Secretary of Health and Human Services, is the inspiration behind the annual event, which is a fundraiser for the Martha's Vineyard Hospital. Aspiring walkers and runners started off the day with races of their own, including a short derby for crawling babies and a kids' fun run. Later Dr. Sullivan wielded a megaphone to start off the races, which included a walking race and a running race. According to race results online, 100 walkers completed the race and 146 runners crossed the finish line.

The route began at Washington Park and wound around to East Chop. Lee Greathouse, 28, of Edgartown, was the first runner to finish, crossing the finish line with a time of 16:52. Rachel Spirito, 25, of Edgartown, was the first place woman runner came in sixth overall with a time of 20:58.

The walking competition finished in a tie between Jill Zamarro, 43, of Oak Bluffs, and Marston Clough, 73, who both came in at 34:12.
