Dozens of classic cars rolled onto the grounds of Martha's Vineyard Regional High School Monday for the Tisbury Fire Department's annual classic car show. The event is a fundraiser for the Fallen Firefighters Fund.

Cars on display ranged from Joe Sollitto's 1933 Ford to the Aquinnah Fire Department's brand new truck.

Several of the cars represented Island legacies that weave together vintage vehicles and fire departments. Will deBettencourt was on hand with the 1931 Ford Model A Roadster he restored. The Roadster belonged to Mr. deBettencourt's late father, William (Bink) deBettencourt, a volunteer Oak Bluffs firefighter and the owner of Bink's Auto.

David Billings arrived with his 1956 blue Pontiac Star Chief, which won best in show. The car once belonged to his late father, Donald Billings, a longtime member of the Oak Bluffs fire department. Mr. Billings and his friend Billy Norton had a hand in acquiring the fire department's original 1929 Maxim fire engine and creating a fire museum.
