The seasons may be changing, but the surf is still enticing to kiteboarders and surfers, who spent the last few days of summer hitting the waves.

A Saturday surfing event hosted by the Martha's Vineyard Film Festival and the High Line Festival included a free four-hour family and community surf at Squibnocket Beach. Instructors were on hand for those that needed assistance, and boards were provided by The Green Room, 6K6 Surf School, and The Boneyard. The event continued off the beach with a potluck jam, surfing photography, and several surfing-themed movies.

A high surf advisory was in effect Monday on the Island, with swimmers and mariners warned to use caution on the water. But kiteboarders and surfers took advantage of the large waves and empty beaches.
