A sea of classic cars to celebrate summer.
The fourth annual Car-B-Q classic rolled into Edgartown on Father’s Day. The event began with a parade of classic cars, trucks, vans and a motorcycle or two from Bend in the Road Beach down Main street to the Harbor View Hotel. Soon the hotel grounds were filled with classic cars and onlookers enjoying a glance at the vintage cars, lawn games, entertaiment, and, of course, a barbecue.
Trophies were awarded to the top three cars by popular vote. Randy Walpole and his Berkshire green 1958 Nash Metropolitan came in first place this year. The second place prize went to John Kelly and his green 1958 Buick. Carlos Teles came in third with his tan 1930 Ford Model-A Woody. All those who entered a classic car voted for the best in show. This year’s winner was David Grain for his cabernet 1948 Pontiac Silver Streak woody.
The event was sponsored by the Vineyard Gazette, the Harbor View Hotel, Patrick Ahearn and MV Autoworks. Proceeds raised went to the MV Fallen Firefighters Fund.
