On Saturday, Penn Field in Oak Bluffs was the site of the Little League championships. This was the official opening day for the new fields and a chance for the kids to showcase their talents in style.
The AAA minor league game opened the day, with the Marlins defeating the Tigers 12-7. Following that game there was an awards ceremony recognizing all the teams, from T-ball to the major leagues.
The major league championship game ended the day with the A's defeating the Red Sox 8-7 in a close contest that had parents and friends on their feet and hoarse from cheering.
