As part of its efforts to support commercial fishermen on the Island, the Martha's Vineyard Fishermen Preservation Trust hosted its first Meet the Fleet event Thursday in Menemsha. Historic and working fishing boats were on hand, as were Island fishermen past and present. Passersby learned about oysters, lobster, and the fishing industry, checked out the ships, and got up close and personal with ocean creatures with a touch tank and crab races.
