Last night Vineyarders kept their eyes to the sky to witness the lunar eclipse of the harvest full moon. After 10 p.m., when the moon moved into the umbra (the darkest part of the shadow) it turned a bright pumpkin orange. What illuminates the moon during a lunar eclipse is the echo of a thousand sunsets and sunrises on Earth.
