As Labor Day arrives and the traditional summer exodus begins, all roads lead to the Steamship Authority where the lines are long and the boats are sold out in one direction only: to the mainland. Before getting on the ferries, visitors had their last ride on the Flying Horses, last ice cream, last dirty banana, and last shopping excursion as summer of 2024 wanes.

And Islanders are smiling, because they love September.
