The New England Patriots flag appeared on the Vineyard Haven seawall the week before the Super Bowl in what is now a Vineyard tradition. This year Blitz for Six was written on the base of the flag as the hometown team vied for their sixth Super Bowl championship. On the big day Vineyarders gathered at homes and Island restaurants and bars to cheer on the team against the Philadelphia Eagles.

While another championship was not in the cards, there was no shortage of Patriots spirit on the Island Sunday. Red Sox pitchers and catchers report for spring training on Feb. 13.
