Tuesday bring the spring equinox at 11:06 p.m. This is one of the best times of the year to walk the Island, and the Vineyard is lucky to have so many beautiful conservation properties for such walking. Snowdrops and crocus have opened in the warming sun. Daffodils can be found pushing up through the forest floor near an old foundation. A surprise sprinkling of wild anemones form a periwinkle carpet atop matted brown leaves.

And then there is the sky. The color splashed across the western horizon some evenings these past few weeks has challenged accurate description. How many Island photographers have rushed outside at sunset to capture the incredible colors?

A walk outdoors in mid March is the best spring tonic.
