Breaking news this week: the sun was out. The skies were blue. Open windows let in spring air and Islanders pulled out sandals and T-shirts.
The first few days of warm weather always feel like a gift, especially following a cold spring. In a few months the sun will be the exception, not the rule, and the windows will be closed as air conditioners do their work. But for now everyone heralds the blue skies, the warm air, the returning summer birds, the thought of the first swim. Isn't it nice out, everyone says. It almost feels like summer.
