Someone wrote to the Gazette awhile ago with a few observations about this time of year, thoughts as appropriate today as they were when they were first published: “If we can be still long enough to see the small lights shining in the darkness, to hear the old songs sent again into the cold night, to savor in our hearts the sweetness of life in this holy time of celebration — if only we can be still, the message of Christmas is everywhere around us. It is a simple message of peace on earth and goodwill toward all, a familiar message known as good news.”
And from the staff of the Vineyard Gazette, we extend to all our friends and readers on the Island and in every state across the nation our best wishes for a Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays and our hopes that the New Year brings peace and joy for all.
