The new year began with fireworks reflecting in the water of Edgartown harbor, where onlookers braved frigid temperatures to welcome in 2018. Some watched the show from the warmth of the Harbor View Hotel, where the old year was ushered out with revelry and dancing to the tunes of the Joanne Cassidy Band and Mike Benjamin Band. Come midnight, the Island joined the rest of the time zone to cheer the new year and sing a round of Auld Lang Syne.
