An enthusiastic crowd was on hand Sunday for the opening reception of Dog Wild, the first art show of the year at the new art barn at Featherstone Center for the Arts. Guests ranged from a German shepard named Raga to a four-month-old French bulldog named Betty Boop to Rocky, a sweet three-legged dog rescued through Angels Helping Animals Worldwide Martha's Vineyard. Their owners and other humans were on hand, too, to admire paintings, photos, and sculptures of Island pets and other dogs. Animal Shelter staff attended the celebration, as well as the crew from Angels Helping Animals, who brought along a special guest: Baby, a Cane Corso rescued from St. Croix after Hurricane Maria. Baby will soon be up for adoption.
The show coincided with the Chinese New Year: 2018 is the Year of the Dog. Dog Wild will be on display at the Featherstone Art Barn through March 4.
