Whether creeping over Sengekontacket or enveloping Katama, the fog descended last night and remained this morning, cloaking everything in dew. Walking along the Oak Bluffs Harbor the air carried the fresh tang of seaweed, pushed in by last week's storms. And on State Beach the scent was of cedar, salt marsh and low tide. Everywhere the view was softened, as if dabbed by an impressionistic painter. But one thing is for certain, fishermen still flocked to the ocean's edge to cast their lines.
