This is one of the things I
Sue Cimmino Palm Harbor, FLThis is one of the things I love most about the Vineyard. You take care of your own who suffer injuries, death, or just need emotional support, or some help.
My Mom died suddenly in our home on the Vineyard in 1956 when I was 13 years old. We were new home owners and Summer visitors since 1953, and were in deep shock from her death. Tom and Adeline DeMont who we had just met the previous Summer, helped my Father make funeral arrangements, get flowers for her service and took my brother and I to their home to stay. Our Lady Star of the Sea church members came to the service so we wouldn't be alone, and provided food. The DeMonts adopted me into their family and their children and I have been friends for over 60 years. My love for the Island was cemented in those horrible days and I left the Island knowing someone would be looking after her. My children and grandchildren have the same love for the Vineyard and the friends they have made over the years and like their Mother and Grandmother anticipate our return in the Summer.
