Edgartown's senior statesman Fred B. Morgan Jr. closed a chapter for the town Tuesday afternoon when the longtime selectman announced he will step down from his leadership post after nearly 31 years of public service.
By a heavy majority, Chilmark voters this week approved plans to expand and renovate their public library. At a Monday night special town meeting, more than 300 voters filled the Community Center to overflowing and strongly backed the project.
It's already being called the "drop-and-go"
approach. Eager to make the transit hub in West Tisbury center look more
like just another bus stop, town and transit leaders this week agreed to
trim the amount of time that buses linger on the village main street.
For the second time in two weeks, Theophilus Nix Jr., an Oak Bluffs
attorney, has come before selectmen holding a petition that could give
voters a chance to pull their town out of the Martha's Vineyard
Commission.
