The shelter has two residents in the cat room. Beauty is a long-haired, frosted tip seven-year-old female cat, and she is a true beauty with a delightful personality.

Lieut. Cmdr. Alexander B. Baynes of the United States Navy was promoted to his present rank on Sept. 1. The promotion ceremony was attended by his parents, Les and Judy Baynes of Edgartown.

Forced indoors by a northeast storm that lashed the Island, the annual Veterans Day ceremony included the emotional reunion of three Navy shipmates who had served together in the Viet Nam War.

The Island Wide Youth Collaborative has officially moved into its new home, and on Saturday, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. the group is hosting an open house. All are welcome.
