The unexpected death of Chilmark arts patron Marianne Goldberg has left a big hole in the arts scene on Martha’s Vineyard, say many of the artists who benefited from her vision and generosity.

Dr. Marianne L. Goldberg, director and founder of Pathways Gathering Space, died peacefully at her home in Chilmark on Dec. 21, 2015 after a sudden and brief illness, surrounded by friends.

Founded in 1997, Vineyard House opened the doors to its new campus in Tisbury one year ago. The goal is to create an environment where people want to stay longer.

A project is in the works to refurbish the Vineyard skate park, which was built in 2003 and now needs repairs. Organizers need to raise $300,000.
