On July 7, the Summer Institute opens its annual speaker series at the Martha’s Vineyard Hebrew Center with James Carroll.

Faith Thompson helped welcome the arrival of the Hokule’a this week by playing her ukulele at the welcoming ceremony on Tuesday at Packer’s wharf. Ms. Thompson first picked up a ukulele as a young girl growing up in Hawaii.
It was 6 p.m. on a Saturday evening. Shops were still open along Main street, Vineyard Haven as people enjoyed the evening in town during what has become a weekly event this summer, the Saturday Stroll.
On July 2, Flatbread will open its doors to host music for the last time at the YMCA’s sixth annual Stars + Stripes Festival. The show begins at 7 p.m.
