Adding another twist to the rapid series of events around the sudden ouster of Martha’s Vineyard Hospital's chief executive, the two leading members of hospital board of trustees said Wednesday that a formal vote was taken to terminate president and CEO Joe Woodin.

The Martha’s Vineyard Rod and Gun Club tournament saw a twist at the awards ceremony, when two Island brothers who are on active duty in the military made an appearance via Skype.

Winners of the 2017 Best of the Vineyard awards will be announced on Thursday, June 8, at the summer kickoff event hosted by the Martha’s Vineyard Magazine, the sponsor of the annual contest.

After just 13 months on the job, the president and chief executive officer of the Martha’s Vineyard Hospital was abruptly fired Monday morning for reasons that have not been disclosed.

Some 200 fifth and sixth graders from around the Island spent Thursday afternoon racing cars behind the Edgartown School. The cars were small, sleek and solar, built by the students themselves.
