Hospice of Martha’s Vineyard, which provides care and comfort to Island families at the end of life, has been named the beneficiary of the Vineyard Gazette’s annual holiday subscription promotion.

The well-known entertainment executive who headed HBO, Viacom and Universal Studios, among other things in his career, died Nov. 25.

Hospice of Martha’s Vineyard is a rarity among hospice providers because it charges no fees for its services and takes no insurance payments.

For nearly 20 years, the town of Oak Bluffs has been replacing many of the old lampposts in town, built in the 1960s.
