More than half a dozen World War II-era planes paid a visit to Martha’s Vineyard Sunday, landing at the Katama Airfield, and putting on a small show overhead.

Serena Ward, fishing in her first derby, earned bragging rights for the first fish, an 8.4-pound false albacore. Chuck Winter was second with a 4.44-pound bluefish.

The former longtime West Tisbury selectman, Island builder and community activist, died Friday night. He was 74 and had battled Parkinson’s disease for many years.
