There is a holiday benefit sale taking place at the Persian tribal rug gallery at 18 State Road in Vineyard Haven just a few doors up from Educomp.
Alpaca’s Red Stocking
This holiday season, Island Alpaca farm will be collecting donations of gifts for needy children through the Red Stocking Fund, or nonperishable foods (value of $10 or more) at the farm until Dec. 24, 2010. Bring your unwrapped gift, or purchase one at the Island Alpaca Farm Store. Every donation merits a raffle ticket to win either a $100 or $50 gift certificate to the farm gift shop. Drawings for the winners will be held on Dec. 24.
On Saturday, Dec. 18, there will be a giant fundraiser to celebrate Haiti’s strength and perseverance. The word giant is no mere hyperbole, either.
The music will be giant. Kahoots, Master Exploder, Philly D., Goodnight Louise, Deeja Di, DCLA, Island Thunder, Mercy Beat, Erich Luening, Meghan LaRoque, Rick Bausman and the Drum Workshop and Kevin Keady are all in, and the list is growing.
The activities will be giant. There will be a potluck, an art auction, hula hooping with Coco the Clown, and much, much more, organizers promise.
Erin Go Bragh
They are not in Ireland yet, but it’s the next best thing this Wednesday night at Offshore Ale in Oak Bluffs.
Students of Irish history at the Martha’s Vineyard Regional High School are raising money for their trip in February.
The night includes a feast of all things Irish: Leek and potato soup, smoked salmon and Irish brown bread, and Irish stew. For dessert there is chocolate stout cake with Bailey’s frosting. Seatings are at 5, 6:30 and 8 p.m.
Holiday Meal
The Family-to-Family Program of the Vineyard Committee on Hunger is working hard to ensure that Island families in need have a great December holiday meal. During Thanksgiving the committee provided over 170 meals.
