Bye, bye bunnies! All the rabbits at the Animal Shelter of Martha’s Vineyard are hopping down the bunny trail to new homes this week. Think how much good luck they will bring to their new families with all those rabbit feet in the house. The adorable orange kitties have been adopted by the same person. It is always gratifying to see two little ones who have been born and raised together remain united. More kittens will soon be available. That beautiful mother cat who delivered her litter of five under a house in Edgartown is weaning her lively brood.

A Nike Air Jordan sneaker lay sopping wet on a table in the flower studio at Tea Lane Farm on Tuesday. Flower artist Ellie Wetherbee had just finished carving the green floral foam into the shape of the old school sneaker and soaked it before she began to add flowers to the shape.

“It’s like carving a big block of cheese,” she said as she carefully scraped away the final shape of the shoe.

After 23 years, several one-loss seasons, one undefeated run and one state championship title, head coach Ned Fennessy, 80, is retiring.

They were 48 and one dog strong Saturday morning, gathered at Katama Point, the start of the Martha’s Vineyard Land Bank’s annual cross-Island hike. The route would take them through 20 miles of land bank trails, ancient byways, paved roads and some private properties from Katama to Lambert’s Cove Beach.
