Laurel Redington Honored For Public Affairs Reporting

Laurel Redington of MVY Radio has won a Massachusetts Broadcasters Association award for a public affairs segment she created about the Venezuelan migrant crisis.

Laurel Redington of MVY Radio has won a Massachusetts Broadcasters Association award for a public affairs segment she created about the Venezuelan migrant crisis. The segment originally aired in 2022 on MVY Radio’s Sunday morning public affairs show, The Vineyard Current.

In an episode titled Venezuelan Migrants — Confusion Quelled By Humanity, Ms. Redington interviewed many Islanders who took compassionate action during a group of Venezuelan migrants landed unexpectedly on the Island in September 2022. The episode is archived on MVY Radio’s website and can be heard there.

Ms. Redington previously won awards from MBA in 2016, 2017, 2018, 2019, 2020, 2021 and 2022.

Congratulations, Laurel - so well deserved!! I often listen to your show on MVY from Los Angeles (the station streams through my house frequently, which always helps me feel connected to the island from 4000 miles away!). Keep up the great work, Laurel; the island is lucky to have you!
