A woman was hurt Thursday after she drove her SUV through the side of an Edgartown grocer.
Around 4:20 p.m. the woman crashed her Toyota SUV into Edgartown Meat and Fish, taking down a portion of the building near the meat counter.
Edgartown assistant fire chief Josh Baker said the woman was taken to the hospital but there were no major injuries.
The woman, whose name was redacted in an Edgartown police report, told an officer she hadn’t realized she hit the gas pedal.
Officials were waiting on the board of health and building department to inspect the market on Edgartown-Vineyard Haven Road Thursday.
The market remained closed Friday for repairs to the building, but there were plans to reopen at 7 a.m. Saturday, according to a post on the store’s Facebook page.
“We’re so thankful that everyone is okay and we’re truly touched by the incredible support our community has shown,” the post read.
Police would be issuing the woman a summons for negligent operation of a motor vehicle, according to the police report.
This isn’t the first time a vehicle has driven into Edgartown Meat and Fish. A 71-year-old man drove his car through the window in 2018, and a 33-year-old Boston man did the same in 2020.

Wendy West TisSomething feels off about this situation. Three cars drive into Edgartown meat and fish between the years of 2018-2023.
My count die how many times Hollywood video had a car drive into their store at the same location is 0.
Yes, I strongly suspect to
Part-timer EdgartownYes, I strongly suspect to see vehicle barriers of some kind arriving shortly, as B&R said above. Fail to understand why these are suddenly necessary, after 30+ years without incident.

Unfortunately, they are
Name HereUnfortunately, they are probably not allowed now, specifically *because* of the history of so many people driving into the building. My dad's home has been hit by cars three times and they explored putting big rocks out front only to be told that if anyone got injured because of the rocks that they would be held liable. :P Thank goodness for really solid stone houses!

Don W. TisburyI’m 92 and drive everyday and have never had an Incident I can recall. The problem is not enough parking. I’ve thought about parking inside the store myself a few times.
