Vineyarder to Receive Champion of Choice Award

Elizabeth Barnes, a Vineyard resident and president of The Women’s Centers, will be recognized as a Champion of Choice by the National Institute of Reproductive Health on April 26.

Elizabeth Barnes, a Vineyard resident and president of The Women’s Centers, a national reproductive health clinic network, will be recognized as a Champion of Choice by the National Institute of Reproductive Health on April 26.

Ms. Barnes, daughter of Clarence “Trip” Barnes and Judith Cronig, will receive the honor at the institute’s annual gala at the Ziegfeld ballroom in New York City.

Ms. Barnes has been a longtime advocate for abortion access on-Island and nationwide, joining past honorees Rep. Ayanna Pressley and Amy Schumer in recognition for her work in reproductive health advocacy. Her organization, first founded in 1972, has launched clinics and trained providers in Connecticut, Georgia, New Jersey and Pennsylvania.

The National Institute of Reproductive Health is an advocacy group focused on passing legislation to advance and protect abortion access across the U.S.
