The Cape and Islands district attorney has confirmed the death of a three-year-old boy following an incident at a pool at the Field Club in Edgartown on Monday.
Edgartown police and EMS were dispatched to the private club Monday after the child was pulled from one of the club pools, the district attorney said in a press release Friday. The child was unresponsive and was transported to the Martha’s Vineyard Hospital, and subsequently was medflighted to Boston Children’s Hospital, according to the statement from the district attorney. The child succumbed to his injuries on Wednesday, July 28, the statement said.
The incident remains under investigation by Edgartown police, state police assigned to the district attorney’s office, and the office of the chief medical examiner, the statement said.
