Celebrating 50 Years of Oak Bluffs Hoops

To celebrate 50 years of Oak Bluffs summer basketball, the league is hosting a dedication and tribute to the league on Saturday, June 26, beginning at 1 p.m. at the Niantic Park court.

To celebrate 50 years of Oak Bluffs summer basketball, the league is hosting a dedication and tribute to the league on Saturday, June 26, beginning at 1 p.m. at the Niantic Park court.

The event opens with an honorary jump ball ceremony with league founder Jay Schofield. Then the action begins with two games between local teams and the Dana Barros basketball club. At 1:15 p.m. the seventh/eight boys all-star team hit the court and at 2:45 p.m. the 16U teams play.

Alumni are encourage to attend, and volunteers, donations and contributions are welcome.

Congratulations! The OB Summer Leagues history at Niantic Park was highlighted in ‘Soul Cup: From James Naismith to the Inkwell’ the exhibit Flash Wiley, Duane Jackson and Richard Taylor and I curated with the MV Museum in August 2019. Hoop heaven in OB on June 26!
