MVYouth announced this week that it has awarded $730,000 in college and work force development scholarships to 10 Martha’s Vineyard high school seniors and young adults.

The college scholarship winners are Brooke Crocker (Tufts University), Larissa De Oliveira (University of Massachusetts at Amherst), Maria Clara Lacerda (Northeastern University), Ruby Reimann (Bates College), Eric Reubens (Tufts University), Kaya Seiman (Simmons University), Ellie Thomas (Wheaton College), and Willa Welch (Northeastern University).

The workforce development scholarships support young people ages 18 to 25 years old pursuing technical training and professional development. The winners are Michaela Benefit, (University of Connecticut), and Madeline Chronister (University of Masschusetts at Stockbridge).

Founded in 2014, MVYouth provides last-dollar funding to high school seniors seeking financial support to attend college.

Including this year’s recipients, MVYouth has or is funding 60 Vineyard students with college and workforce development scholarships. The organization also provides financial support each year to youth-oriented nonprofits and schools with expansion grants for facilities. In December, a total of $840,000 in grants went to the Island Autism Group, Adult & Continuing Education Martha’s Vineyard (ACE MV), Foundation for Underway Experiential Learning (FUEL), and the Island school system for a Covid-19 surveillance program.
