Three Islanders Arrested in Falmouth and Tisbury Drug Investigation

Police in Tisbury and Falmouth worked with members of the Cape Cod Drug Task Force and the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration to arrest three Tisbury residents Tuesday after a two-month investigation, Tisbury police said.

Three Tisbury residents are facing charges after police in Tisbury and Falmouth worked with members of the Cape Cod Drug Task Force and the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration on a two-month investigation into drug distribution on the Island, according to an announcement from the Tisbury police.

At about 10:30 p.m. in Falmouth Tuesday, members of all four agencies executed a search warrant on a vehicle registered to Janelle Berneche, 31, of Tisbury, police said. Jason Mello, 32, of Tisbury, was with Ms. Berneche in the vehicle.

Following the vehicle search, both were arrested for possession of a Class A substance suspected to be fentanyl, according to police. Charges against Ms. Berneche were later dismissed.

At the same time in Tisbury, town police executed a warrant at the residence of Ms. Berneche and Mr. Mello, where they found Ryan Mello, 33, of Tisbury. As a result of the search, police said they planned to summons Ryan Mello on charges of possession of a Class B substance, cocaine and a Class E substance, gabapentin.

Ms. Berneche and Jason Mello were held at the Falmouth police department and scheduled to be arraigned Wednesday in Falmouth district court, according to police.
