The Boys & Girls Club Second Hand Store in Edgartown will not reopen this season, according to an announcement from the club.

The Martha's Vineyard Boys & Girls Club Second Hand Store in Edgartown will not reopen this season due to the Covid-19 pandemic, according to an announcement from the club.

"As the Second Hand Store is an important part of our revenue, the decision to keep it closed this summer did not come lightly," club management wrote. "This allows us to focus all our energy on child care for Island kids, our top priority."

The club, which has made its programming free to all Island children through June, 2021, has 66 youngsters a day enrolled in its summer camp and welcomes more, according to the announcement. The all-day camp runs through August 23 with learning and play activities, free lunch and snacks five days a week.

Sorely missed, it is such a great resource for so many people, in addition to generating revenue for the Boys and Girls Club, It brings major charm and character to the downtown. It is the friendliest spot!
