A celebration of life will be held Sunday for Davin A. Tackabury, a Martha’s Vineyard Regional High School senior who died over Labor Day weekend.
The Tackbury family announced this week that the ceremony will be held at the Martha’s Vineyard Hebrew Center on Sunday, Sept. 8, from 1 to 4 p.m.
A Davin A. Tackabury scholarship fund has also been established. The family has asked that people not send flowers but instead consider a contribution to the fund.
Checks can be made out to MVRHS, with “In memory of Davin Tackabury” written into the memo line.
The mailing address is Martha’s Vineyard Public Schools, c/o Marylee Schroeder, Treasurer, 4 Pine Street, Vineyard Haven, MA 02568.
A resident of West Tisbury, Mr. Tackabury was a talented art student and photographer who had won repeated recognition for his work in the annual Boston Globe Scholastic Art Competition.
Beginning on Labor Day and continuing through the week, the high school made counselors available to students needing support.
A full obituary will appear in a future edition.

I am stunned. I knew Davin
Valentine West TisburyI am stunned. I knew Davin and often spoke with him at art openings. The strength of his photography work knew no bounds and promised a bright future. Davin was a wonderful artist and a kind and considerate young man. I shall miss him and I pray for his family.
I hope that we can support
Abigail W. EdgartownI hope that we can support the family with a fitting way to memorialize Davin at MVRHS. I know that the Dingledy administration would support such a heartfelt sign of openess and love. We need to support each other in these sad days ahead. Maybe a piece of his art, as he was such an accomplished photograher.
