The Coast Guard came to the aid of a 30-foot recreational vessel that was taking on water Thursday afternoon off Squibnocket.

Petty officer Nicole Groll from First District in Boston confirmed that the call for help came in at approximately 3:30 p.m. Thursday. A 47-foot life boat responded from station Menemsha, along with a helicopter from Air Station Cape Cod, she said.

The five people on board were all believed to be safe and the vessel was en route back to Menemsha. Sea Tow, a marine towing company from Falmouth, and the Barnstable County sheriff’s office also responded, Petty Officer Groll said.

The cause of the problem was not immediately known.

Kudos to USCG Station Menemsha. The crews have been very busy over the past several weeks and have saved many souls.
