<p>Nelson Sigelman of Vineyard Haven received two awards from the New England Outdoor Writers Association.</p>

Nelson Sigelman of Vineyard Haven received two awards at the 75th annual New England Outdoor Writers Association meeting held April 8 in Oxford.

Mr. Sigelman’s story about the harmful effects of impoundments along the Mill Brook, published in October in The Martha’s Vineyard Times, won first place in the best article newspaper category His column about fulfilling his goal of taking a deer with a flintlock rifle that was published in January 2016 received second place in the best column newspaper category.

Thank you for your very nice comment. No longer in the eye of the news storm, I have used the time period between the end of hunting season and beginning of fishing season to do just what you suggested I do — compile my columns — and I even took on a few household chores along the way.
