Martha’s Vineyard Regional High School senior Lucas DeBettencourt has signed a letter of intent to play football next year at Bentley University.
DeBettencourt, a 6-foot-5, 295 pound lineman, was an Eastern Athletic Conference football all star and co-captain of the football team this season. Next year he’ll take his talents to the Bentley Falcons, a Division Two school in Waltham.
The senior athlete signed his letter of intent at the high school Friday with his mother, Laura DeBettencourt, his uncle, Edgartown Police Sgt. Thomas Smith, guidance counselor Mike McCarthy, retired football coach Don Herman, and his teammates and friends looking on.
