Who does Lynne Irons think she is using the Vineyard Gardener column to spew her political hate for those who are on the opposite side and who quietly think her side is totally whacked out.
Her side constantly claims to be so tolerant and believes in uniting the world, however almost everyone in her political boat is basically intolerant, arrogant, divisive, disrespectful and unpatriotic.
Whoever proofreads the column at the Gazette before it goes to print should tell her to keep her radical personal political opinions to herself, put them in the Gazette’s Letter to the Editor section or tell her to just grab a sign and hang out at Five Corners!
I have only read her column a couple times and did not find it very interesting, but it was brought to my attention by one who does read it kind of regularly and thought that I might like to comment, as they were kind of shocked.

This is my first letter ever
Proud military island family Marthas VineyardThis is my first letter ever to a newspaper but I could not agree more with Mr Williams. I have seen his opinions in the island papers for years and I feel that he is usually the one on the island who makes the most sense on so many serious issues that concern us on the vineyard with our country and especially with us island veterans, our veteran parents and our other family members.
I am so sick of the island democrats, island left wingers, island socialists, island moveon.orgers using and sneaking in every possible chance to subliminally express their radical views and agenda's in every way possible. I must also mention infiltrating all our island committees, commissions and some of island towns selectmens boards.
I see their allowed and accepted infiltration in the press in some of their contributing writers to the gazette who always have to put some jab in for their political views knowing that they can.
To Mr. Williams thank you and hopefully you have awakened the silent majority here on the island with your letters over the years as so many people and families that I know as well as my self and my family which happens to come from a very long line of honorable military personal have had enough. I hope my comment will start others on the island to come out of the so called closet to publicly comment and save what little we have left.
I must say I am a terrible writer and am just a regular person so please excuse any errors I may have made writing this. Thank you.

Woody I wish you would run
Mary J VHWoody I wish you would run for either County Commissioner or for selectmen of our town in Tisbury. We really need somebody that will stand up to the Island's liberal reporters and press and be a public watchdog for all those who are in control of the island who we disagree with.
Most of us do not have the time or are in very sticky situations where our jobs etc would be in jeopardy if we spoke out like you have over the years. Thank you.
I just saw that the Gazette
Mary Jane TisburyI just saw that the Gazette editor edited 95% of the comment I submitted about this article. Freedom of speech is non-existent with this paper! I am very disturbed. Let us see if this is censored as well.
I respectfully disagree with
Susan Forbes Hansen West Hartford / longtime reader, frequent visitorI respectfully disagree with Mr. Williams' characterization of Ms. Irons. I find her to be extremely patriotic (just because people don't agree doesn't mean that one is patriotic and one is not), very proud of her country and her history. And spewing political hate? I find her to be more bemused with what's happening than hateful; to find hate-spewing, we might just listen to the rhetoric from some of our presidential candidates -- it's FAR more hateful against anyone who's not just like them. And Ms. Irons is a columnist, not a reporter. A column often includes opinion -- the three columns on the back page are the first things I read when my Gazette arrives.
