Fight Building Decay

The following letter was sent to the Edgartown selectmen.

The following letter was sent to the Edgartown selectmen:

Now that Oak Bluffs has been able to make the Halls do repairs on one of their properties, could something be done about their property on Main street next to the town hall? Their issue is the tree that the court has ruled cannot be removed. Does this mean that the building will continue to become an eyesore to both tourist and year round residents? Trees can be trimmed back. After all, the building was built with a tree in front and has been used as a business for years.

Just because the Halls feel there is no need to keep up their properties and are willing to pass these properties down to the next Hall generation doesn’t mean that we should be subjected to the continuing decay of this building.

I am not exactly sure which tree is being talked about. Yet the one tree to the left of the Edgartown Town Hall is in need of massive pruning or removal. It is half dead and will pose a hazardous condition when it falls. If this is the tree...one does not have to be an Aboriculture specialist to see the 1/2 dead tree (only common sense). Something should be done about this tree. Is the tree going to be allowed to topple onto the road or Town Hall?
