I was so delighted that the Strand movie theatre will be restored and the one in Vineyard Haven.

I was so delighted that the Strand movie theatre will be restored and the one in Vineyard Haven. I spent many happy moments at the movies while spending summers in Oak Bluffs.

I am writing to say although this is great news, I wonder why the Island theatre will not be restored. It is in a much more visible location and the first building one sees entering Circuit avenue. It is in terrible disrepair as you know. I hope someone will come along and restore this former great theatre.

My understanding is that the Strand and Capawock renovations can be accomplished relatively quickly--in time for the season--and that the Island could not. The MV Theater Foundation will apparently makes some changes to the Island's exterior and perhaps, with another round of funding and some success with planned operations, undertake a similar effort for the Island. Contributions are an important facet of these private/public organizations.
