Friends of mvyradio have announced that Louisa Gould has been named executive director of the radio station. Ms. Gould is a photographer and has owned and operated the Louisa Gould Gallery in Vineyard Haven for 12 years.

At the radio station, Ms. Gould will spearhead the fundraising efforts of the nonprofit radio station, which has recently returned to the local airwaves with a new frequency at 88.7FM. The station is about to launch a $150,000 campaign to power an upgrade so that WMVY will reach more listeners. They are looking to raise the money by early April in order to buy the necessary equipment and then to install the upgraded transmitter and antenna.
