Community Chorus Performs Holiday Concerts

They are teachers, plumbers, bankers, artists, fishermen, scallopers, shopkeepers, retirees and twenty-somethings. And while all of these roles are important, this weekend the key characteristic that binds this seemingly disparate group is that they sing.

They are teachers, plumbers, bankers, artists, fishermen, scallopers, shopkeepers, retirees and twenty-somethings. And while all of these roles are important, this weekend the key characteristic that binds this seemingly disparate group is that they sing. The Island Community Chorus holiday concert is here, taking place at the Old Whaling Church in Edgartown on Saturday, Dec. 7 at 7:30 p.m. and Sunday, Dec. 8, at 3 p.m.

The community chorus has been rehearsing since early September for their annual holiday concert. Some of the songs performed this year will be Here We Come A-Caroling, Ding-Dong, Christmas Time Is Here, I’ve Got My Love to Keep Me Warm, Jingle Bells, Fum, fum, fum, Twelve Days of Christmas and Masters in This Hall.

So where is "O Come All Ye Faithful," "God Rest Ye Merry, Gentlemen," "Joy to the World," etc? Someone might say the elision is an example Massachusett's rigid adherence to the new religion of Secularism. A little over-the-top
dogmatism...Salem 1692 anyone?

I'm sorry - couldn't resist the irony... Merry Christmas.

It has been a long time since I was at MV. Just came on line to see some Gazette as it was always a must when I had the Flying Horses. I was looking for some concern about the "Fox in charge of the hen house" as the saying goes, and any protesting GMO's these days? Barack has a wonderful heart and good energy but putting a Monsanto man in charge of the FDA? When you plant MV soil, make certain your seeds are not marked Monsanto.I will keep tabs on you all! Bless
