Meadow Arrives

Madison Ibsen and Thomas Christopher, of Oak Bluffs, announce the birth of a daughter, Meadow Kay Christopher, born on July 27.

 

 

 

Lighthouse Hours Linger

They’re keeping the light on longer up-Island.

Beginning June 18, the Gay Head (Aquinnah) Lighthouse will be open Tuesdays through Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. The lighthouse will also be open to the public for special weekend sunset hours. From June 24 through August 13, Friday and Saturday evening hours are from 7 to 9 p.m., and from August 19 to September 17 the hours on Fridays and Saturdays are from 6 to 8 p.m.

All lighthouse hours are weather permitting.

Dean’s List

Daniel K. Kaeka 5th, of West Tisbury, has been named to the dean’s list at Western New England for the spring semester of 2011. Mr. Kaeka is a junior majoring in pre-pharmacy.

The following Island students were recently named to the dean’s list at Northeastern University for the spring semester: Michael Coulter of Edgartown, Gabrielle Sullo and Hannah Van Osten of Oak Bluffs, and Gabriella Dasilva of Vineyard Haven.

Sophia Arrives

Kerry Cummings and Sean Cummings of Vineyard Haven announce the birth of a daughter, Sophia Grace Cummings, born on May 25, 2011, at the Martha’s Vineyard Hospital. Sophia weighed 6 pounds, 14.5 ounces at birth.

Skidmore Graduate

Isobel Flake, of Vineyard Haven, received her bachelor of arts degree cum laude from Skidmore College at its 100th commencement exercises held Saturday, May 21, at the Saratoga Performing Arts Center.
