The American Red Cross, Cape Cod and Islands Chapter is organizing a number of CPR, AED and first aid classes in November for residents of the Vineyard. All classes will be held at the YMCA at Cottager’s Corner, 57 Pequot avenue in Oak Bluffs.

An adult CPR/AED class will be held on Saturday, Nov. 8 from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. The cost is $50.

In this serialized novel set on the Vineyard in real time, a native Islander (“Call me Becca”) returns home after years in Manhattan to help her eccentric Uncle Abe keep his landscaping business, Pequot, afloat. Abe loathes Richard Moby, chief executive of the off-Island landscaping business Broadway. Abe is irrationally convinced that Moby wants to destroy Abe personally, and Island-based nursery businesses in general.

A program called Keeping Young People Safe on the Internet, a positive approach for parents, guardians and adults who work with young people, will be presented next week by Katelyn M. LeClerc, former Internet safety program coordinator for the Office of the Massachusetts Attorney General.

Belly Dance Class

On Monday Nov. 3, at 1:30 p.m., Vineyard Belly Dance and Island vocalist Jerri Wells will perform at the Edgartown Council on Aging, located at The Anchors on Daggett street in Edgartown. The show is expected to dazzle attendees with music, color and dance. The event is free and appropriate for all ages. For details call 508-627-3240.

Zill Workshop
