The second annual Great Martha’s Vineyard Bake Off takes place this weekend on Dec. 6 and 7. During those days, participating bakeries and businesses will be offering specific treats for sale with all of the proceeds donated to Island nonprofits.
Locations include Aquila At The Y, ArtCliff Diner, Beetlebung Farm, Black Joy Kitchen, Black Sheep (Saturday), Catboat Coffee Co., First Light Cafe, Mo’s Lunch (Saturday), Morning Glory Farm, Orange Peel Bakery and Rosewater (Saturday).
Organizations benefiting include Martha’s Vineyard Sexual Wellness, the Family Resource Center at Community Services and Community Action Committee of Cape Cod & Islands.
Organizer and chef Julia Blanter said she is excited to bring back the bake-off for its second year.
“We continue to need support and fundraising for those community services, so I’m very happy to partner with those three organizations again and highlight the fantastic work that they do for our community,” she said.
There will also be two seatings of afternoon tea at S&S Kitchenette in Vineyard Haven on Dec. 6.
Ms. Blanter hopes the event also boosts support for year-round bakeries and restaurants.
“This is just a nice reminder that we still have plenty of bakeries and eateries open at this time, so support what’s open on the Island,” she said. “[The bake-off] could inspire some holiday baking too.”
