Community Foundation Awards $600,000 to Local Nonprofits

The Martha’s Vineyard Community Foundation will award a record amount of grants to local nonprofits this year.

The Martha’s Vineyard Community Foundation will award a record amount of grants to local nonprofits this year.

The organization announced it will distribute $600,000 in community impact grants to 54 local nonprofit organizations.

“Our local nonprofits are facing enormous challenges, given changes at the national level.... Our board members did an outstanding job in allocating our funding,” wrote Paul Schulz, executive director of Martha’s Vineyard Community Foundation, in a press release.

The Community & Impact Grant program is offered annually to nonprofits that provide significant service to the Island. Recipients were divided into various initiatives, including accessibility, arts and cultural enrichment, children’s services, education, elder services, environment initiatives, food security, health services, housing and language access.
