The Plane View restaurant will change hands as longtime owner Bob Jackson is retiring.
The airport is looking for a new team to run the restaurant. A request for proposals (RFP) was sent out last week for the 2,500 square foot space. While no official applications have been submitted yet, Martha’s Vineyard Airport director Geoff Freeman says that many have inquired.
“That’s not to say that all the people that request the RFP will bid, but we’re right around 15 to 17 people that have expressed interested,” he said.
The RFP process was initiated after Mr. Jackson decided to not renew his lease, according to Mr. Freeman.
“It’s a requirement to be a restaurant,” Mr. Freeman added.
RFPs are due Nov. 19 and the new restaurant will begin operations no later than March 1, 2026, according to the RFP.
Mr. Freeman thanked Mr. Jackson for his hard work.
“Bob has been an excellent tenant and [had] an amazing following throughout the years,” Mr. Freeman said. “He’s definitely earned his retirement. He was a joy to work with and was and still is a part of our airport family but we understand people need to move on. We hope that whoever takes this place can fill those shoes.”
