The fireworks have been moved to Saturday due to inclement weather.
The August fireworks in Oak Bluffs will be postponed due to the weather forecast from Hurricane Erin.
The Oak Bluffs fire department announced the schedule change on Tuesday. Instead of the originally planned display on Friday, the fireworks will now take place on Saturday night at Ocean Park.
Though the hurricane is expected to go further out to sea, forecasts predict high winds and surf starting on Wednesday, creating potentially hazardous conditions through Friday. The Island is under a high surf advisory from the National Weather Service through at least Thursday evening.
Parking will be available starting at 4 p.m. Saturday in Alley-Waban Park for $20 per vehicle. The money goes towards the parks and fireworks.
