The Steamship Authority is warning travelers about changes to the ferry schedules this month due to the Falmouth Road Race and the Oak Bluffs fireworks.

The road race, which runs through Woods Hole, is being held on Sunday and will limit access to the Woods Hole terminal via Woods Hole Road. From 8 a.m. until approximately 10 a.m., the road will be completely closed, making it inaccessible for travelers.

Because of the closures, the 6:30 a.m. trip from Woods Hole to the Vineyard is leaving 10 minutes early. Customers traveling on the 8:15 a.m., 8:35 a.m., 9:30 a.m. or 9:50 a.m. trips from Woods Hole to the Island need to arrive at the terminal no later than 8 a.m., according to the ferry line.

Customers leaving the Vineyard for Woods Hole during the same timeframe will not be able to leave Woods Hole until the roads reopen. The 7:30 a.m. trip from Oak Bluffs to Woods Hole will also be leaving 15 minutes early that day.

On Friday, August 22 the last two scheduled boats in and out of Oak Bluffs will be diverted to Vineyard Haven due to the Ocean Park fireworks.

The specific trips are the 6:30 p.m. departure from Woods Hole and 7:30 p.m. return on board the M/V Nantucket, and the 7:30 p.m. departure from Woods Hole and 8:30 p.m. return on board the M/V Martha’s Vineyard.
